They install network sniffers on a network’s exit points, typically anywhere there is a firewall. The technology analyzes data flow and can instantly stop sensitive data from being improperly transferred. It is done in real time, the file is decoded, the file is decompressed, the format is stripped out and then a policy decision is made about whether to block the transfer”.

Responsibilities:

We are hiring experienced software sales engineers to perform the technical selling activities. These activities will include delivering customer facing presentations, test implementations of the software (Pilots or Proof of Concepts) (10-12 Fortune 100 companies are amongst the Pilots), technical proposal development and implementation guidance and oversight. The sales engineer will be responsible for aligning the product capabilities and the customer requirements. They will be performing the whole middle game to the sales process including making the business case.

Experience:

An applicant for this job should have at least eight years of networking experience and at least five years of network security experience. Job Description:

In this critical role, you will have the opportunity to solve all technical objections during the sales process. The Systems Engineer (SE) is a pre-sales position with some post sales activities. Presales activities include product presentation, deployment design, demonstration management, and technical solutions. There will also be the need to nurture Reseller Relationships including VAR training, initial VAR technical support, and ongoing product training. Post sales duties include maintaining technical relationships with current prospects and customers. This will include customer visits along with limited customer install support.

Required Skills

The Territory SE will need the skills to understand network design, network management, packet level trouble shooting, protocol knowledge including but not limited to: HTTP/S, FTP, RTSP, MMS, DNS, SOCKS, AOL-IM, MSN-IM, YAHOO-IM, LDAP, RADIUS, and NTLM. Operating Systems Knowledge should include the Unix & Windows operating systems. Network skills include routing technologies, Layer3-4 & 7 technologies, WCCP & Highly available/Fault tolerant design. Can look at HTTP transaction & understand it. Knows how browser goes and gets content. Can diagnose network problems—knows ins and outs of network. Can think on your feet.

Have been involved with some of the most important technologies/network security companies in the past (12+) years including invention of Stateful Inspection, hardware based security and IDS/IPS (described as firewall on “Steroids”)

They are about to bring something revolutionary to the market “ground breaking network security solution” They are developing a network security solution that will dramatically improve the ability to control, secure, visualize network traffic

MGMT: Netscreen, OneSecure, Checkpoint, Juniper, Peribit

VC’s: Greylock and Sequoia (been involved with Ascend, Decru, ISS, Legato, RedHat, Tellabs, Cisco, Yahoo, Google, Network Appliance, Redback, Oracle, Apple)

Compensation: $225 OTE (50/50 split)—150% be @ $300k—heavy accelerators—no caps
